Chief Carl Dorman

Chief Carl Dorman has over forty years of law enforcement experience. He graduated from Springdale High School and attended the University of Arkansas. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Justice from American University in Washington D. C. While attending school in Washington he worked as a fingerprint clerk for the F.B.I.

Chief Dorman started his law enforcement career as a Police Officer with the Dallas Police Department in 1973. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1978 and worked in the Patrol Division. In March of 1992 he was named the Dallas Police Departmentís Officer of the Month. Later that year he and his family moved back to Northwest Arkansas and he started working for the Prairie Grove Police Department. He served as the Sergeant under Chief Robin Casey. In 2000 he was appointed Chief of Police by Mayor Andrew Bain. Since that time the department has grown from five officers to ten full time officers and has taken over full time operation of the city Animal Control function.

Chief Dorman takes pride in improving the Police Departmentís pay and professionalism. He has worked hard to ensure that each officer received continual training and job related education so they could better preform their jobs and make the department better serve the city.

Chief Dorman considers it an honor to have served the citizens of Prairie Grove. He will miss the officers he worked with and wishes it did not have to come to an end. Chief Dorman feels that the time he spent as Chief of the Prairie Grove Police Department was the high point of his career.
